Strong Roots Istanbul is a Children's Library and Learning Center located in the heart of Istanbul. We are dedicated to providing our community of children and families a safe and fun place to read, learn, create and enjoy the wonder of books.
Membership & Classes
Library Membership
Becoming a Strong Roots Library Member is the BEST way to encourage a love of books and reading in your child! With over 3000 English language books on its shelves, there is no better stocked library in Istanbul!
Members enjoy the privilege of being able to check out three books per visit and are automatically entered in the Strong Roots Reading Challenge. Learning to use and enjoy a library is a wonderful way to teach children about the value of books; as well as giving them the opportunity to try different genres of books- without having to carry the cost of purchasing unwanted books!

Reading Groups
Strong Roots Weekly Reading Groups are a wonderful way to get children excited about books!
These 1 hour sessions are led by native English speaking instructors and are geared toward younger children who may not yet be able to read independently.
Each week children will listen to a range of themed English books and participate in book-based activities that range from arts and crafts, S.T.E.M. exploration and experiments to group playtime. These classes are based on our new Strong Roots Reading Group Curriculum and will build on each other so that children have the chance to develop their English listening and speaking skills as well as explore their artistic and scientific sides!

Book Clubs
Book Clubs at Strong Roots are semi-private book-based English lessons that are appropriate for our older readers who are able to read and write independently.
These 1.5 hour long sessions are led by certified English teachers and focus on increasing language and literacy skills in children through book-based learning. With a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 children per group, Book Clubs also start with a healthy snack, plenty of reading and speaking time and then continue with book-focused learning activities; our instructors also always leave time for a bit of fun- card games, sticker time, dramatic play and more!

Drama
English Drama at Strong Roots continues again this year with the AMAZING duo of Lara & Arda!!!
This year we will be offering semester-long drama courses for children aged 4 and above. Children aged 7 and above will meet on Monday afternoons. Children aged 4-6 years old will meet on Fridays.
Each weekly class will build on the previous one as children learn dramatic techniques, play drama based games, have time to sing and dance, and prepare for an end of the semester performance!!!

Cooking
At Strong Roots Cooking Class, children are able to explore their inner chefs in English with the guidance of a native English speaking instructor. From tarts to tortillas and pesto to pastries, children get to try their hand at lots of different foods and techniques! In keeping with the library theme, each class ends with an English reading time and book exploration too!
